Before I begin my ranting, I would like to talk for a minute about something important that happened this weekend at ConnectiCon.
There were some misunderstandings this year between ConnectiCon and the new convention center regarding last minute expenses. Because of this, the creators of the convention ended up in $35,000.00 personal debt. Matt Daigle and Briana Benn, who I consider good friends, are not able to shoulder this debt by themselves. It threatens not only ConnectiCon 2006, but their lives and futures as well.
As a community, those of us involved in webcomics have taken it upon ourselves to do our part to help raise these funds. A website has been set up for donations. It can be found here. The page has a special area for goodies available only to those who donate $5 or more, such as exclusive art & desktop wallpapers from your favorite webcomics. There will also be original artwork and other items available on ebay to support ConnectiCon. Please visit the site and donate or become involved yourself in the cause. I know we can count on you.
On a less gloomy note, the convention itself was a blast. It was really a bonding experience for all of us, and I am very grateful for that. Words can not describe how much I love an appreciate all of the friends I got to see and the new friends I made there. Thanks guys. <3
As for my personal life, I am happier these days than I have been for over a year. I owe a good deal of this to my brand new kitten. :D As some of you know I have been wanting a Siamese cat ever since I first met two of the sweetest cats ever, Chilli and China. Last month I finally got my own Siamese ball of trouble, and named her Chai (like the tea) as a little homage to China. Unfortunately this past week Chilli and China themselves passed away from smoke inhalation when their mom & dad’s house caught fire. Carl and Charlotte themselves I am told are going to pull through just fine. My heart goes out to them for their loss and suffering.
